My Mom Is My SUPER WOMAN, By Bronwyn Abrahams

What an amazing piece written by Bronwyn.
It was such a pleasure reading this story.
I hope that Brenda Jansen can inspire other women out there to never give up and to never give into the curve balls life often throws our way.

Be outstanding, determined and never give up on your dreams!!

My Mom Is My SUPER WOMAN, by Bronwyn Abrahams

In life we all have people we admire. These people are often everything that we hope to be someday as we carry on our journey through life.

While I have my favourite entertainer, writer, actor and even sports player, my MOM is still my HERO, my SUPER WOMAN!

My Mother has been through so much in her life. From family drama’s to health issues and then of course the task of raising 3 children on her own.

I am the eldest of 3 children and because my mom had me when she was quite young, I can say that I have been there to see all the ups and the downs in her life but no matter what life has thrown her way, my Mom has always come out on the other side a survivor!

My father passed on when I was 12 years old and my mother never re-married because taking care of us became her reason for living. She was in between jobs trying to take care of a 12 year old, 7 year old and 2 year old.
Times were really tough at some stages but I never heard my mom cry, complain or be angry. My mom always had a smile on her face and the most positive attitude I have ever come across. My mom is such an inspiration to me, her friend s and family.

Whilst growing up, I always remember my mom saying how much she would like to start her own business one day. Her biggest dream was to become a successful woman and to one day leave behind a legacy for her children and grandchildren.

As my mom got older, I realised more that she never got to be or do half of what she wanted to or what she deserved to be. This was because, like so many of her generation of women, she put every need, wish, desire, or dream she had for herself on hold to ensure that her kids were taken care of as best as she could. She always put the needs of others before her own whether it be a friend, family member or even a stranger and I think somewhere along the line she lost a bit of her sense of self determination.

Three weeks before her 52nd birthday, my mom said to me she has been doing some research on a course she would like to do and wanted my opinion on it. I was very impressed and surprised because she was going to be 52 years old and she wanted to do this now but I was inspired.
I told her I thought it was a wonderful idea and I would help her get into the course.

Two years later, my mother graduated and received her certificates in Business Development and Business Management! “WELL DONE MOM”

At the age of 55 my mother started her own business and I am proud to say that 21 years later, she is a successful business woman and her business is still growing day by day.
My mom just turned 76 years old and by the grace of God she is still healthy as a fiddle and still running her business with the help of my younger sister.

At her birthday dinner this year, my mom announced that she will be retiring when she turns 80 and my sister Jennifer will be taking over the business from her.

Despite everything mom has gone through, I believe that every tear, every drop of sweat she shed, every hardship she endured, my Mother is a woman who can do ANTYHING!! She is my SUPER WOMAN!

My mother has been a great blessing and inspiration in my life and if I get to be half of the woman she is, that is A LOT!

Her courage, determination, loyalty and love is what has kept her and our family going.
I am proud to be her daughter and am happy to one day live on has the legacy she left behind.

Thank you for being an outstanding woman MOM!!
